So its a Sunday and that means one of two things, either 1) open gym – go and do something or 2) Kickboxercise which is more fun! I’ve even got the bruises to show for it today.
As ever, Chris and I are not meant to hit each other, but due to mistimings and in some case, a lack of remembering what the hell we were meant to be doing didnt help. I should also apologise to him, for higher, and then raising the wrong arm!
As part of this weeks holiday I thought I would make an effort to get out and walk more which is great but….. As part of ongoing issues with the knees and feet my word is it hurting this morning. I do also wonder if its something to do with footwear so will try something different today. Not setting out with a route in mind, (well yesterday had to go to bank) and its just where I end up.
As part of yesterdays work I ended up in the park at Jarrow whichs sadly isnt looking its best as cutbacks to budgets are more apparent. Don’t get me wrong, in the whole it was ok, but just not as good as I’ve seen our parks before. I like the idea of medow land and random planting, but this still needs some kind of order.
As part of walking around I must admin to being a little on the antisocial side as I’ve been playing music to my self. The joy of spotify is that you are never quite sure where you are going to end up next. Searching on the word “walking” provided a couple of different playlists to keep me going. A Sont bluetooth gadget means wirefree to head phones so phone is in my bag and its an easy walk.
Yesteday, this was a chunk of my playlist, some of it, for example track 4 I am guessing probably pressed the fast forward button!

So then onto today…..
Another late start! and washing is in the machine. Bacon and spinach for lunch (crispy bacon as I left it in the optigrill too long). Getting ready to walk, and the plan is to head out towards Hebburn park.
Todays music choice is undecided, as again will let spotify guide me. Setting off soon but a small delay whilst camera gets a quick charge.
Well wouldn’t you know it, time for a holiday and I fall apart. A tough gym session during the week targeting the legs, then add in a pinch of rugby and the inevitable result? Pain, lots of it.
My right knee has started to go pop when I walk, and last night that meant little sleep and a cocktail of pain killers to get through the night. The ice pack certainly did help. The upset of this? One grumpy stephen and missed saturday morning session.
Additionally, it doesn’t look great for Sunday’s kickboxercise either. Bugger. I shall see what support I can give it for the day along with some rest.
So at the weekend, I said I needed a goal, and by accident, I’ve gone and found one. Whilst at the gym, I thought they look good scales so I duely paid £1 to go on them. Out pops a receipt and it made for interesting reading. There was a new number of there I’ve not seen before.
No it doesnt take a genius to wokr out where I would be on that little picture and its off far to one side, in the margin of your screen. According to the receipt in front of me 39.2% The same receipt also says Poor => 32.1
So there is the target, for this time round that % has to come down! With no science or idea why I’ve guessed lets do 5%…. interesting and an update in 4 weeks then guys.
That leads nicely onto tonight’s gym session, and something I always enjoy – Tyre flipping. In partners, 6 minutes AMRAP and record the number for slam balls 9kg, tyre flips, rowing (calories burned) then kettle bell swings. Total it up and off you go. As there was an odd number, we took a 3rd person and it meant some more down time, fear not we deployed the plank!

The previous plan was to be fitter and healthier for my holiday and that now seems like a distant memory. So what is the goal to be for this 6 weeks…. (and we are already a week down!) I suspect being on holiday has slowed me down here, but I can live with that!
The main goal needs some thoughts but along the way:
